Method for calculating a time varying level signal (h(t)) from a sensor signal (s(t)) output from a sensor (1) immersed in liquid (4). Accordingly the level signal is calculated as a function of the sensor signal and on the modeled behavior of viscous liquid running of the sensor. The invention also relates to a corresponding level measuring system and use of the system for measuring the oil level in a combustion engine with the measured level related to a rotational velocity measurement system.
