The wheelchair (1) has a magnetic brake for an electric motor (3) acting as a parking brake deactivated with the motor on and activated with the motor off by a spring element to brake the chair. A lever (4) for mechanically operating the parking brake with the motor off can be pivoted between rest and working positions. It contacts the motor in space-saving manner in the rest position and provides a long lever arm in the working position.
