Heavy metal recovery from waste involves agglomeration with hydrophobizing agent, calcium compound and/or alcohol and binder to encapsulate or bind oil before gasification and combustion
Heavy metal recovery from waste that contains oil or similar mineral hydrocarbons, involves adding hydrophobizing agent, calcium compound and/or alcohol, agglomerating to particles finer than 2 mm and encapsulating and/or binding hydrocarbons, so that, in combustion furnace, it outgasses only in a temperature zone at or above the gas ignition point and immediately burns there. A specific hydrocarbon absorbent or pozzolanic waste binder is used. Recovery of heavy metals from waste, in which oil or similar mineral hydrocarbons and optionally water are prepared, involves adding hydrophobizing agent, calcium compound and/or alcohol, agglomerating to particles finer than 2 mm and encapsulating and/or binding hydrocarbons to the waste, so that it outgasses only in a temperature zone at or above the gas ignition point and immediately burns on transferring the waste to a furnace. A specific absorbent for the hydrocarbons and pozzolanic binder for the waste is used in an amount corresponding to the hydrocarbon content. The amounts are 2-35 wt.% water, 15-50 wt.% binder and/or 0.5-35 wt.% hydrocarbons with respect to total waste. During mixing, water is evaporated to the fraction required for pelletization, which is carried out after mixing.
