The railway wagon (2) rolls into the maintenance bay (1) on rails (3) with stops. The rails are supported by columns (4). An exhauster fan (16) draws air out of the inspection pit (6) and drives it up a chimney (25) to the outside. There is a chain drive (31) for a lifting and lowering working platform (7) in the pit. Working platforms (17) are mounted in the gantry above the rail level. They may be moved up and down on vertical hoists and may be extended horizontally on scissors linkages. There are ventilators (12) in the gantry.
