Production of light-weight construction elements using loam, wood and binder comprises mixing the starting materials to wood parts covered with wet loam layer and adding powdered starch-based binder to cover the wet loam surface
Production of light-weight construction elements using loam, wood and a binder comprises initially separating wood pieces into a wood fraction and homogenizing the loam and adjusting its moisture content. The starting materials are intensively mixed together in a specified mixing ratio using a kneading/mixing machine to produce wood parts completely covered with a wet loam layer of specified thickness. A powdered starch-based binder is added optionally with other additives in defined quantities so that the wet loam surface of the wood parts are covered as uniformly as possible with a powder layer of binder and additives. The mixture is applied using suitable application devices onto the carrying run of a slowly moving flexible continuous transport belt so that it uniformly covers the entire working width of the belt. The mixture is then compressed by one or more pressing devices in a vertical direction to produce a defined layer thickness. The compressed layer continuously runs through a thermal treatment chamber with microwave zones for heating the product, reacting the binder and to initiate drying, and hot air zones for residual drying of the product. The compressed product layer is guided with slight clamping tension through the microwave zone between the transport belt and a cover belt. The compressed product then undergoes a post-treatment fabrication phase.
