The arrangement has an industrial robot and a welding tongs unit whose fixed part is movably mounted with a fixed electrode on a robot arm head so as to be approximately axially parallel to the electrode direction. A fixing element that can be actuated is arranged between the fixed tongs part and the robot arm head to enable relative movement between them in its free position and to fix the current relative position in its fixing position. The spot welding arrangement has an industrial robot and a welding tongs unit whose fixed part (3) is movably mounted with a fixed electrode (4) on a robot arm head (10) via a bearing (9) so as to be approximately axially parallel to the electrode direction. A fixing element (11) that can be actuated is arranged between the fixed tongs part and the robot arm head to enable relative movement between them in its free position and to fix the current relative position in its fixing position.
