The clamp (6) spreads the lower jaw to relieve overcrowding of the incisor teeth (2). It has two blocks (7,8) each carrying two side arms (16) with bent ends (21) which may engage in grooves (19) in the inner sides of molar teeth (3,4). A pad (18) may be placed between the ends of the side arms and the teeth. The two blocks are spread by rotating a spindle (9) with a central bore to accommodate a pin and with opposite handed threads at the ends. There may be two guide bolts to prevent rotation of the blocks with respect to each other.
