Accordingly when ceramic or concrete pipes (10) are laid using a hydraulic digger or similar the mating forces is measured and documented, especially using a pocket computer in which the data for each joint can be digitally or graphically visualized, stored and transmitted over a wireless LAN or cable interface to a central computer system. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for method implementation with a support (5) for a force measurement cell (3) and a guide element (4) for transverse force compensation.
