Objective lens driver (11) comprises a base part (12) of magnetic material with an extending support shaft (16) and yokes (15) for support of magnets (17). Mounted on the shaft is a moving part (13) that contains the objective lens (22) and focussing coils (24) for focussing of the lens on the recording medium. A pair of slowing-down coils (25) are provided to slow the laser light. The magnets, yokes, base part and support shaft form a magnetic circuit. The invention also relates to a corresponding disk drive device that uses the inventive objective lens driver.
