Device has detection means for automatic determination of the exceeding of a threshold value within a time step within a simulation event. The detection means determine if the simulation result at the end of a time step is greater than a predefined tolerance. If a tolerance limit is exceeded the detection means automatically adjusts the length of the time step until the result is within tolerance. An Independent claim is made for a method for simulating an electronic system with both analogue and digital components by solving a set of differential algebraic equations.
