The profile connecting unit (10) for the connecting of two profiled bars (20,30) includes a screw unit (14) which screws into a clamping unit (13), with a stop component (5) in the head region (18) of the screw unit. A threaded component (16) which engages in a slot (32) in the second bar has a continuous internal thread (38) into which screws the external thread (36) of the screw unit. The screw unit has a penetration device (52) on the end face lying opposite the head region. The longitudinal distance of the stop from the penetration device in relation to the sum of the length of the clamping unit and depth of the slot in the second profiled bar is selected so that in the assembled state the stop bears against the clamping unit and the penetration device enters the base (34) of the slot and especially by an amount of 1-3mm.
