Determination of magnetic field for steel hull plate of ship by combining magnetic field measurements made using sensor array and modeling of hull using elementary mesh type elements
Magnetic field sensors are placed over the plate or hull to measure the magnetic field. The hull of the ship is then modeled by dividing it into a mesh of elementary surface elements and applying a first magnetic field model based on its mesh elements, dimensions, thickness, coordinates of the field sensors and application of an inductive magnetic field. A second model is based on the same elements and the reversible permeability of the steel rather than its inductive field. Lastly the magnetic signature is derived from the calculated permanent and induced magnetizations.
