Automatic method for linking computer files (12) accessible via a computer (4) has the following steps: representation on a screen (18) of the contents of a start file and a list of elements relating to at least one file, group of files, or part of a file; and after selection of a portion of the contents of the start file and an element of the list forming a target element, linking of the portion and element such that a predetermined action on the start portion with an input device triggers a predetermined program in connection with the target element. The invention also relates to a corresponding data support and automatic device for use with linked files for presentation of information.
