Read device comprises a control card (1) with a microcontroller (2) that has a first input-output terminal (A1) connected to a first command terminal, a standard DVD reader (5), an output terminal (A2) connected to the input of a video player (6) the output of which is connected to a display (7). The microcontroller can be used via an input device (8) to program the read device, with said program stored in the control card program memory (EEPROM). The program is then used to control image display on the screen. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for reading and visualization of DVD multimedia data.
