A musical instrument keyboard has a row of keys in addition to the keys normally found on a standard musical keyboard. The additional keys are positioned between and to the rear of the keys of a standard keyboard. Twelve additional keys per octave are provided, each additional key being arranged to sound a note which is between the semitones played by the adjacent white or white and black keys of the standard keyboard. This keyboard layout may be applied to both electronic and acoustic keyboard musical instruments and also to virtual musical instruments.
