PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new flame retardant capable of imparting high flame retardancy to a PC resin in an extremely small compounding amount without lowering both mechanical strengths and transparency inherent in the PC resin, and to provide a flame-retardant aromatic polycarbonate resin composition containing the flame retardant.;SOLUTION: The new flame retardant comprises a fluororesin with the side chain bearing sulfo group and/or a metal salt thereof, wherein the metal salt is preferably an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt. This flame retardant is carried on an inorganic compound or the like.
