PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure optical response characteristics of a liquid crystal display device within a short period of time.;SOLUTION: A movable evaluation signal generating part 11 stores zonal movable evaluation pattern data consisting of a plurality of gray scale regions 200a-200i aligned with a specified interval. A fixed evaluation signal generating part 13 stores zonal fixed evaluation pattern data consisting of a plurality of gray scale regions 100a-100i adjacently aligned. A signal outputted from the movable evaluation signal generating part 11 is scroll treated at a scrolling part 12 so as to move and display on a screen of a liquid crystal display panel 50 with a uniform speed. Further the movable evaluation pattern signal and the fixed evaluation pattern signal are superposed at a superposition part 14 and are inputted into the liquid crystal display device 60 subjected to evaluation as an input picture signal so as to display an evaluation pattern on the liquid crystal display panel 50.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
