PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium niobate precursor which contains lithium and niobium in the same molar amount and is preservable for a long period; its manufacturing method; and a method for quickly making a lithium niobate thin film which is thick and has a stoichiometric composition and no crack.;SOLUTION: The method for making the lithium niobate precursor particles comprises the step of synthesizing a complex alkoxide by dissolving in an alcohol a lithium alkoxide and a niobium alkoxide in a molar ratio of (1.05 to 1.10):1.00, the step of hydrolyzing, the step of filtering, washing, and purifying a precipitate, and the step of drying the precipitate. The lithium niobate thin film is made by using a lithium niobate precursor solution prepared by dispersing the lithium niobate precursor particles and a protective colloid in a solvent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
