PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional model retrieval method by which three-dimensional model similarity retrieval can be performed with a two-dimensional image as a retrieval key. PSOLUTION: This retrieval method includes a retrieval object image formation process forming a plurality of two-dimensional images by viewing three-dimensional models which become the object of retrieval from various view points, a first feature quantity extract process extracting the feature quantity of each of the two-dimensional images from a plurality of two dimensional images formed in the retrieval object image formation process, a retrieval key input process inputting two-dimensional images which become the key of retrieval, and a second feature quantity extract process extracting the feature quantity from the two-dimensional images which are input in the retrieval key input process and become the key of retrieval. Also, this retrieval method is provided with a similar shape retrieval process retrieving a similar shape by using the feature quantity extracted in the first feature quantity extract process and the feature quantity extracted in the second feature quantity extract process and outputting a three-dimensional model similar to the retrieval key.
