PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colorimeter unit used for correcting particularly an ambient light source in a display device, a design device, and a method of designing or the like.;SOLUTION: A color monitor calibrated with a standard light source is corrected for the ambient light source. The ambient light is measured by mounting such color filters as R, G and B on the colorimeter, and data which express the spectrum characteristic of the ambient light source are derived from the colorimetry data. A matrix for the ambient light source correction is generated according to the difference between the spectrum characteristic of the ambient light source and the spectrum characteristic of the standard light source, and written in a color conversion table. Color data are corrected by referring to the data in the color conversion table when the data in an image memory are displayed on a color monitor. Thus, an article which is designed with colors under the ambient light source but not under the predetermined standard light source is displayed on the color monitor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
