PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the arrival of mail between mail servers by adding transmission mail identification information to electronic mail, transmitting it, registering the information to a transmission/reception management file, preparing arrival confirmation mail at the time of mail reception, transmitting it to the mail server of a transmission origin and registering the arrival at a transmission destination of the mail in the transmission/reception management file. ;SOLUTION: A mail server software part 14 on a transmission side receives the electronic mail transmitted from the terminal 24 of a transmitter through a network from a transmission mail management software part 16, judges the terminal of which mail server destination is to be connected from the destination address of the mail and transfers it to the mail server. Also, the mail server software part 14 on a reception side receives the transferred mail, stores it in a mail box 15 for each user, and at the time of being accessed from the terminal 26 of a receiver through the network, transmits the mail whose destination is the user of the terminal 26 already stored in the mail box 15 to the receiver's terminal 26.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
