Novel cross linked polymer flims prepared from poly4(4-cardanylazobenzoic acid and poly4-(4-acryloylcardanylazobenzoic acid are disclosed. The invention also relates to novel monomers 4-(4-cardanylazobenzoic acid and 4-(4-acryloylcardanylazobenzoic acid and polymers thereof as well processes for the preparation thereof.
