The equipment and method are for the detection of wind noise in a series of microphones incorporating two or more sound inlet apertures located separately. A component is provided for conversion of sound to electrical signals or a microphone in connection with each sound inlet aperture. The microphones each generate a time-dependent signal, which is conducted to a signal processor. The processor generates a first time-dependent cross correlation function between a first and a second microphone signal. The processor has devices for generating a signal which corresponds to a time-dependent auto correlation function of either the first or the second of the microphone signals. The processor has further devices for comparing values from the first and second correlation signals and to detect the situation where the value of the second correlation signal is higher than that of the first such signal, so that the situation is an indication of the presence of wind noise.
