Connecting socket to end of metal cable by unwinding metal strands to form plume, sliding socket over cut plume and introducing casting material into socket

The strands at a proximal part of the cable are unwound to form a plume, the socket is slid over the cut plume via the distal end of cable, casting material is introduced into the socket and the cable fixing device (1) is removed from the proximal part of the cable once the casting material has hardened. A method for connecting the end of a multi-strand metal cable to a socket comprises the following steps: (a) fixing the proximal part of a free piece of cable into position using a fixing device which is held in a fixed position; (b) unwinding the strands to form a plume; (c) cutting the plume; (d) sliding the socket over the plume via the distal end of the free piece of cable; (e) introducing a casting material into the socket and leaving it to harden; and (f) removing the fixing device.
