At least one navigation system (1) in one or more movable units (1-3) enables a first unit and a second unit to exchange information relating to their positions. An input device (4) allows an identifiable first unit to determine a movement-related parameter relative to an identifiable second unit. A fusion filter (15) is used to estimate a positional error for the first unit and the certainty of this error, based on the actual position of the first unit and information provided via the input device. A means is provided for determining the position of the first unit based on its actual position and the estimated positional error. A means is also provided for determining the certainty of the positional error for the first unit based on the estimated certainty of this error. An independent claim is also included for a navigation centre (8-8c) in a positioning system, comprising a data area (11) in which information relating to the actual positions of movable units in the system is stored.
