A description is given of cellulose ether blends comprisinga) cellulose ether;b) from 0.1 to 10% by weight of an additive selected from starch, starchether, guar, guar ether and xanthan, based on the dry cellulose ether,c) optionally from 0.05 to 1% by weight of polyacrylamide, based on thedry cellulose ether, andd) optionally further additives,characterized in that additive b) has been metered in as an aqueous solutionor as apowder and polyacrylamide c) has been metered in as an aqueous solution to awater-moist cellulose ether having a moisture content in the range from 25% to 75%byweight, based on the weight of the moist cellulose ether, with mixing andoptionallyfurther addition of water.Likewise described is a process for producing cellulose ether blends ofincreasedbulk density and also their use as an additive in construction materialsystems such astile adhesives or cement compositions and plaster compositions.
