摘要

The present invention relates to the isolation of the blue copper protein gene from rice. It has been found that this invention is likely to play an important role in plant cell detoxification by scavenging the reactive oxygen species thereby preventing damage to cellular structures and providing a mechanism of salt/ drought tolerance. The gene can also be used to engineer stress tolerance in other plant species as well. The gene can also be applied in nutraceuticals and as a component of cosmetics.
