A tempura maker is constituted of a fryer (12), a conveyer (70), a multiple movable frame portion (80), a multiple hand portion (20), an ingredient transporter (50), and a liquid-pouring device (100). The fryer (12) has a rectangular shape in a plan view and oil (7) is received in it. The conveyer (70) is of an endless track-type, provided below an oil level (7a) at the front side in the fryer (12), and circulated in the forward-backward direction. The multiple movable frame portion (80) has six frame portions (85) arranged side by side in the left-right direction. The multiple hand portion (20) has clasping devices (30) arranged side by side in the left-right direction and clasping tail sections (2) of prawns used as ingredients (1). The ingredient transporter (50) has a left-right pair of endless circular chains (55) reciprocating a first laterally supported bar (21), provided in the multiple hand portion (20), in the forward-backward direction while supporting the bar (21) at its left and right end portions. The bar (21) is reciprocated so as to load an ingredient (1) in a lying position, with a tail section (2) clasped and suspended by each clasping device (30), into each frame portion (85) horizontally placed on the upper surface of the conveyor (70). The liquid-pouring device (100) pours a batter liquid (8) down into each frame portion (85) on which the ingredient (1) is placed in a lying position.
