Evaluation method for the amount of adiabatic shear band formation in the same materials by dynamic torsional tests

PURPOSE: A method is provided to evaluate formation of an insulated shearing band in the same material by inspecting deformation and failure behavior using a predetermined dynamic twist testing device. CONSTITUTION: A test sample is tested by using a predetermined dynamic twist testing device in order to obtain data with respect to formation of an insulated shearing band, which affects harmful influence to a destructive characteristic and deformation of a material. A critical shearing deformation rate, which is obtained through a shearing stress equation and a critical shearing deformation equation, is applied to a formation degree of the insulated shearing band. A shearing stress-shearing deformation curve obtained through a dynamic twist test is analyzed in relation to the critical shearing deformation rate.
