PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing nano-sized metal nitride particles excellent in homogeneity, crystallinity and saturation magnetization by forming metal-organic complex, and nitriding and thermal decomposing organic ligands at the same time. CONSTITUTION: The nano-sized metal nitride particles are prepared by the following steps of: (A) preparing metal-organic complex by reacting metal precursor and organic ligand, having a molar ratio of metal precursor/organic ligand of 10:90 - 70:30, in solvent at 170-350deg.C, wherein the metal precursor is at least one metal compound selected from the compounds composed of metals(Fe, Co, Ni, Cr, Mn, Ba, Sr, etc.) and ligands(-Co, -NO, -C2H5, acetylacetoacetate and alkoxide), and the other compounds comprising iron pentacarbonyl, ferrocene, Co(CO)3(NO), FeCl3, Fe(NO3)3, Ti(O-i-C3H7)4, H2PtCl6, etc., the organic ligand is at least one cationic surfactant(alkyl trimethyl ammonium halide), neutral surfactant(alkyl amine) and anionic surfactant(sodium alkyl sulfate), and the solvent is one or more of octyl ether, butyl ether, pyridine, THF, toluene, octyl alcohol, pentane, hexane and water; (B) washing formed metal-organic complex; (C) flowing a mixed gas containing NH3 and H2 in a molar ratio of 90/10 - 10/90 into the complex for nitridation and thermal-decomposition of organic ligands; (D) recovering metal nitride particles. Also, the metal-organic complex is vacuumed under 3Torr and treated with Ar gas before the step (C) for removal of solvent or impurities left in complex.
