PURPOSE: A method of culturing seeds of bean sprouts or green bean sprouts with a disinfectant containing a quaternary ammonium chloride compound as main material is provided. The disinfectant is convenient to use and high in safety while having excellent controlling effects against spoilage-causing bacteria of bean sprouts and thus effective in improving the quality and productivity of bean sprouts. CONSTITUTION: The disinfectant for seeds of bean sprouts or green bean sprouts contains any one component or a mixture thereof selected from n-alkyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride of formula 1 and n-alkyldimethylethylbenzyl ammonium chloride of formula 2 in a ratio of 1:1 to 2:1. In formula, R is C12-18 or C12-14. To prevent spoilage of bean sprouts or green bean sprouts, seeds of bean sprouts or green bean sprouts are soaked in the disinfectant, or the cultivation vessel of bean sprouts or green bean sprouts is disinfected with the disinfectant.
