PURPOSE: A method for controlling a base station system and a data combiner supporting two paths in a transmission diversity mode is provided to enhance performance of a system by controlling 2FA-3 sector as well as 1FA-3 sector by a base station controller. CONSTITUTION: A data combiner receives a desired channel card number and a sector number(namely, a path index)(610). The data combiner checks whether the received channel card number is smaller than or the same as (N-1)/2(620). The data combiner converts the obtained path index to obtain an enable path(630). The data combiner checks whether a common channel is in a normal state(640). If the common channel is normal, an RCCA(Radio-frequency and Channel Control processor) generates an enable mask for a channel transmission path, or if not, the RCCA generates an enable mask as an initial value(650). The RCCA writes in a data combiner port for a corresponding enable path by using the generated enable mask(660). A path which results from increasing 1 to the obtained enable path is enabled by using the enable mask(670).
