PURPOSE: A reproduction control information managing and data reproduction controlling method of a high-density optical disk is provided to calculate/confirm BERs(Bit Error Rates), and to select one optional bit detection operation in which the smallest BER is calculated, thereby normally reproducing data. CONSTITUTION: When a BD-ROM(Blu-ray Disc ROM)(10) is inserted, an initial servo operation is carried out. Channel bit length information recorded in a wobble type in a BCA region is detected without another decoding process by using a push-pull signal detection method. If the wobble-type channel bit length information is not added to the BCA region, a VDP(Video Disc Player) system(12) of an optical disk device sequentially performs optimum plural bit detection operations, and selects one optional bit detection operation having the smallest BER.
