PURPOSE: A method for upgrading firmware of a mobile communication terminal is provided to upgrade firmware of a mobile communication terminal connected to an outer source through a predetermined interface, thereby quickly reopening an upgrade process without another equipment even though an error is generated while upgrading firmware. CONSTITUTION: A controller of a mobile communication terminal stores information on downloading operations(S10), and reboots the mobile communication terminal(S12). The controller executes a code within an upgrade management area of a memory(S14), and checks whether information on a download mode exists in a data area(S16). If so(S18), the controller reads the information on the download operations(S22), and checks whether an interface is properly connected to a download port(S24). If so(S26), the controller downloads an RAM driver program from a computer(S28). The mobile communication terminal executes the program, erases an existing firmware image(S30), writes a firmware image received from the computer, and completes the upgrading process(S32).
