PURPOSE: An additive used for chloride-based zinc-iron plating bath for improving roughness, surface appearance and iron deposition rate of a plating layer during the plating of chloride-based zinc-iron and chloride-based zinc-iron plating solution composition containing the same are provided. Therefore, plating has excellent coating surface appearance such as glossness and whiteness and iron deposition rate by using the composition. CONSTITUTION: This titled additive comprises 5 to 15% by weight of a polyethylene mixture obtained by mixing polyethylene glycol having a polymerization degree of 10 to 20 and polyethylene glycol having a polymerization degree of 20 to 30 in a ratio of 1.2 to 1.5; 0.02 to 0.2g/L o-vanillin; benzoic acid having the same concentration ratio as the o-vanillin; and 0.5 to 30g/L citric acid. The plating solution composition contains 0.2 to 8.0ml/L additive and a zinc-iron plating solution having a Zn ion mole concentration of 0.5 to 2.5mol/L, Fe ion mole concentration of 0.1 to 0.5mol/L, Cl ion concentration of 4.0 to 9.0mol/L and a ratio of Fe ion to Zn ion of 0.05 to 0.3:1.
