PURPOSE: A system controller with enhanced robustness and functional performance is provided to decrease the complexity of design procedure by predicting the whole robustness and functional performance of a system controller through an internal-loop compensator. CONSTITUTION: A reference control input(Ur) is inputted to a reference model(Pm(s)) of a real system. A subtracter subtracts a feedback output(y) from an output(yr) of the reference model(Pm(s)) to generate a model-follow-up error(er). An internal controller is designed to minimize the model-follow-up error(er) from the subtracter at a condition that a functional performance of the real system is not degraded. An adder adds an output from the internal controller to the reference control input(Ur) to output a final control input(u).
