PURPOSE: A digital video recorder for supporting a screen splitting switching method and a digital video recording method are provided to process an entire screen by a switching method when plural digital video signals configure the entire screen according to a predetermined screen splitting method. CONSTITUTION: An analog/digital conversion module(301) converts plural analog video signals inputted from plural channels into the first digital video signals, respectively. An image processing module(302) makes the first digital video signals correspond to a predetermined partial screen, and processes the first digital video signals to be switched. A multiplex module(303) multiplexes the first digital video signals, and outputs the second digital video signals. An interface module(304) transmits the second digital video signals to a predetermined computer system(320). The computer system(320) compresses the second digital video signals by using channel information.
