The bogie-mounted machine for cleaning railway track ballast (2) has two adjustable chain excavators (7, 8). Each of these removes ballast from the track bed and feeds it to its own conveyor (20, 25) and into its own sieve (e.g. 23), from which it is fed back to the track.
