A clearing or settlement tank with a surrounding run-off channel (2) for pure water has holes (14, 15, 16) for the entry of pure water from the tanks (1) into the run-off channel and is connected to an extraction pipe (3). The novelty is that the run-off channel (2) is of rectangular cross-section and is immersed in the water in the tank (1). The holes (14) are located in the run-off channel (2) cover (11).
