The clamping device has a tensioning rail (1) received in a channel in a plate cylinder, provided with a printing plate bearing surface (2) at its upper end section (11) and a relatively pivoted clamp rail (3). A knee-lever mechanism (6,7) acts between the clamp rail and the lower end section (21) of the tensioning rail, for moving the clamp rail between the clamping and the plate changing positions, with deformation of a flexible section of the tensioning rail, for exerting a force on the knee-lever mechanism in its upper dead position.
