Replicating and differentiating cells in vitro in which the growth process is initiated or terminated and structurally controlled by use of the growth factors (GF) thrombopoietin (TPO); erythropoietin (EPO); growth hormone (GH, preferably human); somatostatin; leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and/or ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) biological matrix or carrier structure (A) containing at least one of the specified GF; (2) preparing (A) by coating an optionally activated matrix or carrier with GF; and (3) device for performing the new methods. ACTIVITY : Osteopathic; Cardiant; Dermatological; Hepatotropic; Uropathic; Vulnerary; Antiinflammatory; Antidiabetic; Antiulcer; Vasotropic; Opthalmological. No biological data given. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Tissue Replacement Therapy.
