Method for optically inducing mass transport in an optically active material (21), whereby at least one particle (22) from a material containing free charge carriers and arranged near to the surface of the material is induced to move into the optically active material by the effect of an electromagnetic field (23) used to irradiate the optically active material, with the particle causing a local field intensity amplification.
