The washbasin (1) is for use in a bathroom and is circular in plan view. A nozzle (7) is set at an angle near the edge on an adjustable ball joint (8). It sends a jet of water (9) flying toward a barrier (11) situated near the rear of basin, where it spreads out and runs into the bottom of the basin (4). The barrier has a concave front surface (13) and a rounded rim (14). Water can flow round the sides of the barrier to reach a drain at the rear of the basin, diametrically opposed to the nozzle.
