Computer-based method for determining the speech processing separation between similar sounding words using hidden Markov model distances

Method for computer-based determination of the ease with which similar words can be differentiated in speech recognition technologies in which multiple realizations of different dictionary entries are generated and these are then used with dictionary entry generation models to determine a separation or difference between first and second dictionary entry generation models so that the separation between words can be characterized. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a device for determination of the ease with which similar words can be differentiated in speech recognition technologies; (b) a speech recognition device; (c) a computer program storage medium and; (d) a computer program element for determining the separation or distance between similar sounding words.
