The filter, for a gas or a liquid, has at least one filter unit (18) in a brush structure with one or more bristle units (19) in the medium flow path (17). Where the filter is located within a pipe (11), the bristles are to one side of the filter at the clamping points (21,22) between pipe sections (12,13), and wound around a guide wire to be locked in place.
