The combination of two tubes (1, 2), one of which fits inside the other, is held together by laser spot-welding. Independent claims are included for: (a) a method for making the combination; (b) a magnetically-coupled gear pump in which the gear shaft and magnet mounting are laser spot-welded together; and (c) a method for making a magnetically-coupled gear pump using laser spot-welding as described.
