Method for operating an extrusion plant that has synchronized drive units with the set value for the operating speed of a drive unit equal to the product of its maximum drive speed, a unit dependent normalized ratio value and normalized synchronization factor that is the same for all drive unit. The ratio value relates the relative speeds of the individual drive units in a fixed manner. Changing of the synchronization factor results in synchronous speed changes. An independent claim is made for an extrusion plant with a number of drive units and a programmable control and operating unit.
