The system (1) has a central processing unit to determine a seat occupancy condition of an occupant based on occupant physique data indicative of a physique detected by gage-type load sensors (21-24). The determined seat occupancy condition is sent to the occupant protection system. The determined seat occupancy condition is stored in accordance with a driving condition of a vehicle.
