The multiplier has a compressor performing additions on each bit using a carry save adder (CSA) structure C, a sum S, b iA, and q iM to obtain interim values and then performs carry propagation adder (CPA) in response to a carry propagation adder signal to obtain a result. An S-register updates a bit value s iof the sum S and storing the updated bit value. A C-register updates a bit value c iof the carry C and storing the updated bit value. An independent claim is also included for a method for performing a Montgomery modular multiplication.
