Vane cell machine, especially a vane pump, comprises a rotor rotatably arranged within an eccentric ring or a housing eccentric contour between two side surfaces, especially housing surfaces and/or side plates, and driving at least one vane (1) e.g. radially displaceably mounted in the rotor and having two side edges (5, 6) each facing one of the side surfaces. The vane on at least one side edge which faces one of the side surfaces, especially on both side edges, is provided with an axial gap compensation device. Preferred Features: The axial gap compensation device is springy or elastic and is pre-tensioned against the associated side surface.
